Want to leave this cold weather behind? Set your sights on Springtime by marking your calendars for an exciting evening of dancing, music and community action at PLAY IT FORWARD 2017: A Musical Fundraiser for the Nashua Community Music School.
Starting at 7pm on Saturday, April 8th at Alpine Grove in Hollis NH, local rock power house musicians will join forces on a live show that will surely heat up the dance floor for the third year in a row. Headlining the event will be members of the classic New Hampshire based rock group Aces & Eights including Jim Hinkle, Buddy Bernard, Roger Haas, David West and Dirt Munson. Local rock scene favorites The Jivekats will be the featured house band and will play along side select NCMS students and faculty. This combo of talent and groove will surely set the tone for the whole evening. Tickets are available online, at the school, at local businesses, for $18 in advance and $20 at the door . All proceeds will benefit the non-profit Nashua Community Music School.
This professional composing and performing act features the talents of flutist Rebecca Jeffreys on a 2013 Haynes handmade silver flute and a Nagahara 10K Gold flute. Guitarist Mike Loce uses Gibson and Godin electrics and a 1986 Ovation Collector’s Series acoustic guitar. The sound of this duo is simple music with layers of pure emotional complexity.
The true focus of the collaboration is a compositional partnership. Mike (from the rock/jazz/blues tradition) and Becs (from the classical tradition) both bring to the table a wide variety of music tastes and loves for different sounds, inspired by ethnic and international influences. From these sources, they also perform a choice set of cover selections. Writing original music together is the medium in which they synthesize their unique sound, while enjoying many laughs along the way.
Sliding scale pay-what-you-can tickets: $5-25
