Interview with Nikhil...
This Interview took place after Nikhil's first recital at NCMS on Saturday, Nov, 22nd with Executive Director, Lindsay Rinaldi.
Q: How long have you been playing saxophone?
A: I've been playing saxophone for four years.
Q: What made you interested in the saxophone?
A: Well, I've heard many musicians play and the saxophone just stood out to me.
Q: Are you involved with music at school?
A: Oh yes! I'm involved with the Jazz band, Wind Ensemble, regular band, the holiday musical and South Central [South Central District Festival].
Q: When did you start studying at NCMS?
A: Just this year!
Q: What do you think of your saxophone instructor, Rob Daisy?
A: Rob Daisy is my favorite teacher!
Q: How did you feel about your first solo performing experience at NCMS?
A: It was good. I felt that I could have done a little better. The reed was not cooperating properly, but I persevered.
Q: What is your advice to new students thinking about trying the saxophone?
A: I would say, learn all the scales, then try simple music and then keep going practicing the scales and the music like me.
Congratulations to Nikhil on all of his hard work! Each month, all NCMS teachers nominate the top practicer from their studio. The Student of the Month is then randomly selected from that group. Each student of the month gets a full featured interview on the NCMS website and facebook as well as other special recognition.
